Strand Support
Strand for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro
Strand plays your movies, shows and live TV from the servers, shares and TV providers you connect yourself, with a guide, recordings, multiview and synced progress across your devices. Strand does not provide, host or sell any content.

Please include your device, the Strand version (Settings → About) and what happened. Send Log to Developer in Settings sends the details of a playback problem straight to us.
Getting started
The first time you open Strand, setup walks you through connecting a source and arranging your Home screen. You can add or change sources at any time in Settings.
- Media servers: sign in with the server's address and your account on that server.
- Network shares: add a WebDAV address and its sign-in details.
- Live TV: add your provider's M3U playlist or login, and an XMLTV guide address if it has one.
If you use iCloud, your settings, sources and progress follow you to every device signed in to the same Apple Account.
Strand Pro
Strand is unlocked with Strand Pro: a monthly or yearly subscription, each starting with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers, or a one-time Lifetime purchase. Lifetime can be shared with your Family Sharing group; subscriptions cannot.
Restoring a purchase
Strand checks your Apple Account automatically on every device signed in to it. If a purchase does not appear, choose Restore Purchases on the Strand Pro screen.
Cancelling or changing a subscription
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and are managed by Apple:
- iPhone, iPad and Apple Vision Pro: Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
- Mac: App Store → your name → Account Settings → Subscriptions.
- Apple TV: Settings → Users and Accounts → your account → Subscriptions.
Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or the current period ends to avoid being charged for the next one. Apple's guide: View, change or cancel your subscriptions.
Refunds
Payments are handled by Apple, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Common questions
A server or provider won't connect
Check the address works in a web browser on the same network, and that Strand has permission to use the local network (iPhone and iPad: Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network). For a server away from home, use an address that is reachable from outside your network.
The guide is empty
Guides refresh in the background. If your provider supplies its guide separately, add the XMLTV address in Settings → Live TV. A guide can take a minute to load after it is first added.
My settings aren't syncing
Make sure every device is signed in to the same Apple Account, that iCloud is on for Strand in the device's iCloud settings, and that iCloud sync is turned on in Strand's own settings.
